Subject: So the reason for this year's screw job in our bowl matchup...

...is reportedly NOT because of anything from our AD, Michigan, Nebraska, the SEC or
Big 10 offices, or even the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl, which had their Big 10 choice
ahead of the Gator Bowl and took the Wolverines, thus sticking us and the Huskers
(who are no more excited about it than we are) with the rematch.
It is rumored the this is all due to Kansas State's Bill Snyder, who pitched a fit at the
BWW Bowl when he was told that they were planning to select Nebraska as his
opponent. It seems that he has never really forgiven Pelini for chasing him down at the
end of the KSU - Nebraska game in 2003 ( when Pelini was the Huskers'DC) and
berating him for running up the score. KSU won the game 38-9, using their starters well
into the 4 the quarter when the Huskers had evidently thrown in the towel and were
playing their subs. Pelini's verbal tirade at Snyder, in which he supposedly called him an
asshole, is even being described by some KSU people as an "assault" on their HC to
justify his extreme aversion to participating in any event with Pelini if he has any
influence to avoid having to do so. This, despite the fact that both have "made nice" for
the media since Pelini's return to Lincoln as HC in 2008. Two things about all this that I
find annoying (in addition to the rematch, of course):
1. The sheer brass of any Huskers ever presuming to take umbrage at RUTS directed
at them when they made it a freaking trademark of their program from the 60's into the
2. The idea that Snyder or any other coach, should have such influence to bear on
vetoing his opponent is EXCEEDINGLY obnoxious. Nebraska has never been a favorite
of mine but now I will put KSU up on the shelf next to them.
