you aren't distinguishing between Terry stops and the stops that are
at issue here. If someone can be detained indefinitely until their
immigration status is determined, that is far more than a DUI
roadblock, a check through customs, or a licensing checkpoint.
If you carry identification stating you are a US citizen,
congratulations. You're the only person I know who does this. The
rest of us carry drivers licenses and other forms of identification
which make no reference to which country we are citizens of. It's a
crap law that will be used to harass brown skinned people, whether
illegal aliens, legal aliens or US citizens. And it could just as
easily be used to harass white skinned people too, if the law
enforcement officials so choose.
