The judicial system's history is full of judges recommended by someone
on either side of the political spectrum only to turn out to have an
opposite ideology. That's true at almost every level of the judicial
system. The fact that she was recommended by a Republican matters as
little as the fact that she was a Clinton appointee. What really
matters is her ruling and how sound it is...and in this case, it
striking just how off-base it is.

This is why (assuming it makes it to the Supreme Court in its current
make-up) it will be overturned. Of course, it'll have to get to the
SCOTUS first; it's not going to be overturned in the notoriously
liberal 9th Circuit.
