"Requiring Arizona law enforcement officials and agencies to determine
the immigration status of every person who is arrested burdens
lawfully present aliens because their liberty will be restricted while
their status is checked."
That was the judge's ruling. I am assuming that this would set a
precedent.
The next time you see a state patrol license and registration
checkpoint, feel free to drive on through it without stopping. Those
things burden and restricts the liberty of those of us who have our
license and registration in order.
The next time you see a DUI checkpoint, if you're sober, drive on
through it. Those things burden and restrict the liberty of those of
us who don't drive drunk.
The next time you take a trip out of the country and return, don't
feel the need to go through customs. Those things burden and restrict
the liberty of those of us who are here legally and have nothing to hide.
Those are just a few examples. Anything else us legal, law abiding
citizens can avoid since these kinds of checks are now considered
burdensome to us?
